About Jack

Jack Green
Some call it a midlife crisis—I call it an adventure. I’ve quit the day job, booked a one-way ticket out of the UK, and set off to take life as it comes. Over the next few months, I’ll be chasing geological wonders, soaking in new experiences, innovating with new approaches, teaching's and clients all whilst sharing my thoughts and discoveries along the way.

With years of experience and a passion Jack Green is helping others succeed, whilst travelling the world.

Who Am I?

I’m Jack—a geologist with a restless spirit. My journey started at Liverpool University, where I earned a BSc in Geology and Physical Geography, then continued at Newcastle University for postgraduate studies in Engineering Geology. When I wasn’t poring over textbooks, I was hands-on as a welding apprentice, learning (sometimes the hard way) how theory meets the real world.

After graduating, I joined XEIAD as a Structural Examiner, picking up my IRATA Level 1 and High Risk Confined Space Entry qualifications. I led inspection teams all over the UK, thriving on the adrenaline of rope access and the satisfaction of solving tough engineering puzzles. Eventually, I found my way into a role that perfectly blended my academic background with my love of adventure.

Engineering, Awards, and a Taste for Innovation

For five years, I called ByrneLooby (now AYESA) home—rising from graduate to senior engineer. My passion? Geotechnical engineering, with a focus on sustainability and buildability. My rope access skills naturally led me into slope stability inspection and design, which quickly became my specialty. Along the way, I was nominated for several industry awards, including “Ground Engineering’s Rising Star,” and led the design team that won the Editor’s Award for cost-saving, sustainable solutions.

My knack for GeoStudio’s Slope/W software caught the eye of Seequent (part of Bentley Systems), who brought me on board as a Customer Solutions Specialist. I spearheaded the EMEA Civil Customer Solutions team, became an expert in Leapfrog Works and the GeoStudio suite, and delivered foundational training in OpenGround and Central. This role gave me the freedom to pioneer creative solutions across industries, using some of the most advanced software in the business.

A New Chapter Begins

After a fantastic run at Seequent, I decided it was time to chase a lifelong dream: to travel the world as a geotechnical engineer and digital nomad. Now, as I explore new landscapes and geological wonders, I’m excited to document my adventures, share field insights, and even take on some remote geotechnical teaching and design work.

And if you’ve got a rope access inspection job that needs doing—I might just hit pause on my travels to hang off a rope and inspect some rocks. I can’t seem to get enough of it.

So stay tuned for stories, photos, and reflections from the road. There’s a whole world of geology out there, and I can’t wait to explore it with you!
